This is Me

Thank you so much for taking the time to sit down and read this quick introduction about me and the work I hope to do with horses.

Hello! And welcome to Equine Blooming, an online platform that aims to create meaningful and healing relationships between humans and horses.  My name is Katie, and I am the creator of this space.

As of right now the purpose of this space is threefold, as detailed below:

  • Inspire young horse enthusiasts who are interested in finding alternative methods to training and being with horses.
  • Bring attention to the ways in which humans and horses experience trauma, while providing context and useful tips for healing.
  • Act as a source for students interested in pursuing and learning more about the French École de Légèreté.

To help with this, here’s a little bit about me and why I am passionate about this.

  • My name is Katie and as of 2019 I am a 22 year old woman from the Midwest.
  • I have loved horses longer than I can remember and have been riding them since I was 6.  I am very fortunate to work with many beautiful and talented horses & trainers currently, who have inspired and grown my passion.
  • When I was 13 I was diagnosed with anorexia nervosa, a disease I am still battling.  This challenge has prompted me to delve into various aspects of human psychology, as well as given me many resources for healing and handling life in a healthy way.
  • My other passion in life is French, and I was fortunate enough to spend two years living in Paris.  Between that experience and some amazing trainers here in the US I have found a wonderful pedagogy for equestrians, Phillipe Karl’s Ecole de  Légèreté. This is the kindest, most horse friendly method I’ve seen, and it is my hope to continue my education in this program and one day become a certified instructor.

All of these pieces, and more, have combined to help me find my purpose in life, which I believe is to help facilitate healing between horses and humans.  In the following blog posts I will go more in depth about these pieces, but for now it is enough to get my voice out there.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this quick introduction and potentially join me on this journey.  I look forward to sharing my thoughts and experiences with you, and hope that this can grow to become an engaged and useful community.

Take care of yourself, take care of others, take care of what matters most.
